Artists have been using light to create drama in their work for centuries. Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Wyeth, and countless others have elevated light from an afterthought to a protagonist in their work. Dramatic light creates compositions with immediate emotional impact that grab your viewer's attention from across the room. In this 1-day online workshop, students will paint along with master pastelist Corey Pitkin as he demonstrates how he uses light to create work that is both emotional and mysterious. The workshop will conclude with a group critique. Students will be provided a photograph to work from.
